Review - Great North Gluten Free Fair 2013

What a gem of an event this was. So good to see that there is whole new world out there catering for those with specific dietary needs. Such a lot of great, healthy food on offer. From  gluten/wheat/lactose and dairy free foods. Hand-made chocolates to organically produced sausages. Artisan bread and cakes to award winning ales.   Just about something for everyone.  With the emphasis on quality and locally sourced  produce it was finally possible to shop with a conscience and know that you could rely on the ingredients being just what it said on the tin!

A couple of stalls particularly caught my eye -

Riverford organic farms are organic growers who produce award winning seasonal veg that can be delivered to your door anywhere in England and South Wales.  You can also add other organic farm produce such as, fruit, meat, milk and eggs.  So if you're looking for a one stop organic  shop then this might be something for you. Check them on line at www.riverford.co.uk

LiveGlutenFree - is a small team committed to getting a better deal for anyone with coeliac, gluten intolerance, or has just chosen a healthy gluten free diet. They help  people find places to stay, eat and give information about great food products and fantastic recipes. Visit them at www.liveglutenfree.co.uk for further information and to join their on-line community.

Also, judging from the buzz around the place, it seemed to be a great venue for free-fromers and their families to get together on a social level to share news and stories. I'll certainly be visiting other similar fairs in the northern region. Watch out for future blogs.
